A collective built
around a conviction

Duologue began as an exploration of what learning could look like if technology was genuinely placed in service of human thinking. It has evolved into something more applied and ambitious.

Duologue doesn't give you the answer. It helps you find it and builds the kind of thinking that stays with you long after the conversation ends.

The founding story
Duologue originated in a simple but urgent question: as intelligent tools became more capable of giving learners answers, what was happening to their ability to think?

Dr Tom Chatfield had been writing about how technology reshapes cognition. City St George's was observing the impact on their students. Sage was watching what happened when content was summarised rather than engaged with. Wolfram and Raspberry Pi Foundation saw a generation approaching computation as a tool for outsourcing thought rather than extending it.

The answer wasn't to resist change — but to design within it deliberately. The Socratic method could for the first time be made available at scale through guided dialogue. Not to give answers. Not to replace lecturers. To ask better questions. That insight became Duologue — first an experiment, now a platform, always an initiative.
Our identity

What kind of organisation is Duologue?

Product
A focused, commercially viable learning platform with a clear value proposition for institutions, publishers, and learners. Rigorous, evidence-based, and built around measurable outcomes.
Initiative
A wider effort to understand and shape the role of learning in an age shaped by intelligent technology. Research-active, thought-leadership-led, and engaged with policy, industry, and education at every level.
Collective
A founding group of institutions, publishers, technologists, and thinkers who share a conviction — and are building something together rather than behind closed doors. The partners are architects, not backers.
